Job summary

Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is seeking a committed individual to join the Pharmacy Technical Service team and contribute to aseptic preparation of medicines, including chemotherapy and monoclonal antibodies, for Trust patients.

You will assist with dispensing, stock control, and liaise with day case units to support service delivery, while working under pressure as part of a supportive team. NVQ2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent is expected, with eligibility to work towards it.

Qualifications

• NVQ2 in pharmacy services or equivalent, or to undertake full NVQ2 in pharmacy services or equivalent training within 15 months.
• Grade C/4 or above in maths and English, if not, functional skills level 2.
• Experience in a Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and sanitise products for aseptic preparation.
• Aseptically prepare chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies, parenteral nutrition and CIVAS.
• Dispense Ready to Administer 'Specials' products.
• Accept prescriptions checking accuracy of patient details.
• Ensure that all information needed for accurate stock control, dose banding and prescription issues data is recorded using PIS and paper systems.
• Liaise with Procurement staff about urgently required medicines and inform patients and staff about supply problems.
• Dispense specialist hospital-only medicines and unlicensed medicines.
• Answer the telephone according to SOPs and re-direct calls as necessary.
• Organise and liaise with transport for delivery of medicines off site.
• Take telephone messages for Pharmacy staff with full contact details.
• Check and unpack stock requisitions and restock shelves.
• Train other staff in reception duties and participate in induction training of new staff.
• Daily and weekly cleaning of the Aseptic Suite.
• Contribute to quality control and environmental monitoring of the Aseptic unit.
