Job summary

Bright Star Talent is recruiting an experienced ASD Teaching Support Assistant to work in a specialist SEN school in Birmingham, supporting students aged 11–19. You will provide one-to-one and small-group support, help students access lessons, and support their communication, social and emotional needs, while staying calm with challenging behaviour.

You will work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to create a safe, structured learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting students with ASD.
  • Experience managing challenging behaviour.
  • SEN school or specialist setting experience is desirable.
  • Patient, resilient and confident when supporting students with additional needs.
  • Understanding of autism and different communication needs.
  • Able to work as part of a wider school team.
  • Must have a DBS on the Update Service.

Job description

Bright Star Talent are currently recruiting for an experienced ASD Teaching Support Assistant to work in a specialist SEN school in Birmingham, supporting students aged 11–19.

The role will involve providing day-to-day support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping them access learning and develop their confidence within the school environment. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with students who may display challenging behaviour and will be able to remain calm and consistent when managing difficult situations.
