Do you have the passion and skills to work with children with special educational needs (SEN), including those with ASD? If so, this could be the ideal role for you! A wonderful opportunity has arisen for a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join a warm and welcoming primary school in Merton. The school caters primarily to mainstream students, with a special ASD provision, ensuring an inclusive and diverse educational experience. Help children build positive relationships with their classmates and feel part of the wider school community. Assist with any personal care needs and manual handling tasks, ensuring the students’ safety and comfort. Support students during playtimes and practical activities to ensure they are included and safe. Essential Requirements: Prior experience working with primary-aged children with special educational needs, particularly ASD. A calm, patient, and supportive approach to children with learning and behavioural difficulties. Enhanced DBS check (Child Workforce) registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other school staff to create an inclusive learning environment. Experience with manual handling and personal care would be beneficial but not essential. Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude are essential. A genuine passion for helping children thrive in an inclusive educational setting. What We Offer: Competitive pay at a rate of £89–£105 per day, depending on experience. PAYE contract, ensuring all tax and National Insurance contributions are managed for you. 13 weeks of holiday throughout the year, in line with the school’s academic schedule. Free parking at the school and easy access via public transport. Free access to AXCIS Academy, offering a wide range of CPD courses to help you develop your skills in supporting students with a variety of SEN needs. A supportive team where collaboration is key, and where everyone works together to make a difference in students’ lives. Opportunities for career progression and further training. Ideal Candidate: We are seeking someone who is enthusiastic, reliable, and passionate about supporting children with special educational needs.
