Teaching Assistant for Autistic Students Position: Teaching Assistant
Location: Primary School
Contract Type: Full time
Hours: 8.30 am - 4.00 pm

About Us: Axcis is working to recruit a teaching assistant to join a Primary School in Tower Hamlets. The school is a vibrant and inclusive learning community dedicated to fostering the growth and development of all our students. Their mission is to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. This role will be working with the early years classes, so experience of this is needed. The school prides itself on its strong emphasis on inclusion, understanding, and respect for all learners. They are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled teaching assistant to support students with autism. In this role, you will assist the classroom teacher in delivering tailored educational programs that focus on both academic and social development. Your support will be essential in helping the student develop communication skills and navigate social interactions.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist the classroom teacher in delivering personalised educational programs.
  2. Working 1:1 with students.
  3. Support the student in developing communication and social skills, using appropriate strategies and tools.
  4. Create a safe and positive learning environment that encourages participation and engagement.
  5. Develop and use visual aids, social stories, sensory resources, and other tools tailored to support students with ASD.
Qualifications:
  1. Experience working with students on the autism spectrum.
  2. Working in a primary school or early years setting.
  3. Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and associated learning needs.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Patience, empathy, and adaptability in diverse situations.
