Job summary

Supply Desk in the Basingstoke area is seeking an ASD Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with autism in a specialist school from September 2026. The role offers a competitive daily rate (£88-£100) and opportunities for training, with a focus on developing communication, confidence and independence within a nurturing environment.

Prior school experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Genuine passion for supporting children with ASD
• Calm, patient and compassionate approach
• Good communication and teamwork
• Willingness to undertake relevant training
• DBS check (Update Service) or willingness to obtain DBS

Responsibilities

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with ASD
• Supporting pupils' learning, communication, sensory and emotional needs
• Helping pupils follow routines and manage transitions
• Using visual resources and autism-friendly strategies
• Encouraging positive behaviour, social interaction and independence
• Working with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff
• Creating a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment
• Monitoring pupils' progress and providing feedback to the class teacher
