Job summary

Milk Education is seeking an Autism Learning Mentor in North Tyneside to support pupils with Autism and SEND within a therapeutic educational setting. The role involves working with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams to create a nurturing, structured environment where each child feels understood and valued.

Hours are 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday, with ample opportunities for permanency and professional growth within the school.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people, ideally with an Autism diagnosis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trusting, positive relationships.
  • The ability to provide two recent references (work-based or voluntary).

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with Autism within the classroom and wider school environment
  • Implement personalised strategies to support emotional regulation, engagement, and learning
  • Support pupils during therapeutic, outdoor, and Forest School activities
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, SLT, and on-site therapists to deliver consistent support
  • Monitor progress and adapt approaches to meet individual needs
  • Contribute to pastoral care, ensuring pupils feel safe, supported, and ready to learn
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers, sharing progress and celebrating successes
