As an ASC Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Autism and associated learning needs to achieve their full potential. You will work with learners studying a range of programmes, from Foundation Level 1 through to Level 3 qualifications, helping them access learning, develop independence, and progress towards their individual goals.

Working closely with ASC Group Teachers and the wider support team, you will provide tailored support through one-to-one and small-group sessions, both within the ASC Centres and in mainstream learning environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students during off-site activities and educational visits where required.
  • Assist learners in developing confidence, independence, and essential life skills.
  • Provide personal care support where appropriate and required as part of the role.

We offer both full-time and part-time opportunities:

  • Minimum 21 hours per week across 3 days
  • 28 hours per week across 4 days
  • 35 hours per week across 5 days

Working hours are scheduled between 8:30am and 5:00pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

Term-time only salary: Pay is calculated based on contracted weekly hours and weeks worked, plus six weeks’ holiday entitlement, and is paid in equal monthly instalments across 12 months.

What do you need to be a successful Learning Support Assistant at Activate Learning?

This is a rewarding but demanding role that requires resilience, patience, initiative, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.

  • Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and a positive approach to problem-solving.
  • Be capable of building positive, professional relationships with learners and helping them achieve their goals.

Previous experience or qualifications relating to Autism or additional learning needs are desirable but not essential. We welcome applicants who are eager to learn, develop their understanding of Autism, and make a meaningful difference to the lives of young people.
