Job summary

Activate Learning Group in Oxford is seeking a Learning Support Team Leader to lead the LSA Mentor and Learning Support Assistants, guiding day‑to‑day operations and driving excellence in learner support and progress.

You will conduct developmental observations, manage performance reviews, coordinate staff deployment, identify training needs, and collaborate with Group Learning Support Leads and Delivery Managers to deliver robust operational support.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a team of learning support staff and mentors.
• Ability to manage performance and development plans.
• Strong understanding of SEND and appropriate support strategies.
• English and Maths at grade 4 or above or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Learning Support Assistants and LSA Mentor, providing day-to-day guidance.
• Complete developmental observations and performance reviews.
• Monitor recruitment needs, retention and opportunities for training.
• Coordinate staff deployment and work with Delivery Managers for operational support.

As a Learning Support Team Leader, you will act as a lead to our LSA Mentor and Learning Support Assistants providing support with the day-to-day responsibilities.

You will be responsible for completing developmental observations, direct line management of Learning Support Assistants and LSA Mentor, monitoring recruitment needs and retention and training and developmental opportunities.

You will work closely with the Group Learning Support Team Leads and Delivery Managers to provide extra operational support.

This is a permanent, full-time contract working 37 hours per week based at our Oxford college.

What do you need to be a successful Learning Support Team Leader at Activate Learning?

You will be resilient, solutions focused and have a clear vision for the team. The ability to lead, coach and motivate staff is vital.

• Ability to effectively manage, develop, and performance-review a team of support staff.
• Strong understanding of SEND and ability to implement appropriate support strategies.
• English and Maths at Grade 4 or above and/or equivalent.
• Ability to coordinate staff deployment and prioritise support efficiently.
• Ability to identify and support staff training and development needs.
