Job summary

North Northamptonshire Council is seeking an Asbestos Team Leader to deliver asbestos services across our housing stock. You will lead surveys, inspections and void property works, ensuring compliance with asbestos legislation and maintaining accurate records.

You will manage a team of specialist surveyors, drive service improvements, monitor quality and safety, and provide expert advice to colleagues and contractors. The role offers hybrid working and a chance to protect residents and homes.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or evidence of equivalent experience in the building industry with asbestos qualifications.
• Proven knowledge of asbestos legislation and health and safety regulations.
• Experience in surveys, sampling and inspection regimes for asbestos in buildings.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the asbestos team with supervision and performance management.
• Ensure compliance with asbestos legislation and maintain accurate records.
• Oversee surveys, inspections, bulk sampling and re-inspection programmes.
• Monitor quality, safety and cost-effectiveness of works through audits.
• Produce reports, plans and performance updates to support delivery.
• Provide expert asbestos advice to colleagues, contractors and project teams.
• Respond to enquiries and maintain high levels of customer service.
• Drive service improvements and ensure adherence to policies and procurement.
• Participate in site visits and emergency call-out rota as required.

P403 - air sampling and fibre counting

P404 - clearance testing

P405 - management of asbestos in buildings

S301 - Asbestos knowledge of asbestos and health and safety regulations
