Job summary

Portsmouth City Council is offering a fixed-term Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship in Portsmouth. You will help govern the Asbestos Service, support compliance, and manage several workstreams with strong attention to detail.

The role reports to the Asbestos Manager and Compliance Manager, performing administrative tasks, ICT data updates, and meeting support. You will be part of a collaborative team focused on delivering accurate records and effective customer service.

Qualifications

• GCSEs or equivalent; Maths/English at Level 2 or higher.
• Excellent customer service and eye for detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and IT systems.
• Comfortable using databases and data queries.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support in meetings: agendas, minutes, risk registers, action logs.
• Upload and monitor information in IT systems, review and update databases and Power BI dashboards.
• Assist with asbestos management plans: organise, produce, print.
• Perform general admin duties: letters, orders, appointments, information to consultants.
• Arrange asbestos surveyor appointments with building users.
• Support the compliance inbox for asbestos management.
• Maintain records for asbestos surveys, sampling and certification.
