Job summary

Rotherwood Education is recruiting an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary SEND school in the Nelson area. This full-time, ongoing role starts ASAP and offers the opportunity to support pupils with a range of additional needs and make a positive difference to their education.

You will provide one-to-one and small-group support, assist with learning access and social development, and work with teachers to meet individual learning plans.

Qualifications

• Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant/SEND qualification, or have relevant experience
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
• Be confident providing one-to-one and small-group support
• Have a patient, calm and positive approach
• Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Be committed to safeguarding children and young people
• Provide details of 2 most recent references
• Possess a current DBS check or be prepared to apply for one

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEND
• Support pupils to access learning and participate in lessons
• Assist pupils with their social, emotional and communication development
• Support students with needs such as Autism, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties
• Work closely with teachers and the SEND team to meet learning needs
• Follow individual education plans and support personalised learning activities
• Encourage positive behaviour, independence and engagement
• Assist with classroom activities and maintain a safe learning environment
• Contribute to the wider life of the school and pupil development
