Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a passionate Teacher of Art for a Birmingham Catholic school. The role is full-time on a one-year fixed-term maternity cover from January 2027, teaching Art across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, planning engaging lessons and assessing student progress to prepare for external examinations.

The school upholds Catholic values, with a strong Art & Design department and a track record of good GCSE/A-Level outcomes; CPD and professional development are provided.

Qualifications

• QTS with an Art or Art & Design specialism.
• Experience teaching Art across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
• Strong curriculum knowledge and the ability to plan engaging lessons.
• Excellent classroom and behaviour management.

Responsibilities

• Teach Art across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
• Plan engaging and challenging lessons to support external examinations.
• Assess student progress and provide feedback to drive improvement.
• Contribute to the Art & Design department and school ethos.

Job Title: Teacher of Art

Start Date: January 2027

Salary: £170 - £241 per day

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a highly successful and heavily oversubscribed 11-19 Catholic school in Birmingham.

The school is looking to appoint a Teacher of Art on a full-time, one-year fixed-term maternity cover contract from January 2027. The successful Teacher of Art will teach across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, planning engaging lessons, assessing student progress and preparing students for external examinations while contributing to the continued success of the Art & Design department.

The successful Teacher of Art will have:

• QTS with an Art or Art & Design specialism
• Experience teaching Art across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
• Strong curriculum knowledge and the ability to plan engaging and challenging lessons
• Excellent classroom and behaviour management
• High expectations for student achievement and progress
• A commitment to supporting the school's Catholic values and ethos
