Job summary

Carlisle Support Services is seeking an Area Supervisor to lead a station cleaning team across Essex line stations. You will roster staff, monitor performance, ensure training, and uphold HSQE and rail safety standards.

You’ll work with clients to meet KPIs, audit compliance, and address any issues promptly. The role requires proactive leadership, strong communication, and the ability to manage ad hoc challenges while coordinating with a line manager and contract team.

Qualifications

• Good level of communication.

• PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification.
• Driving license (UK) desirable.
• Problem solving and adaptability to ad hoc challenges.

Responsibilities

• Rostering and staff allocation as part of daily duties.
• Manage staff performance per company policies.
• Ensure staff training per role requirements.
• Train station cleaning team in washing, litter removal, and hygiene tasks.
• Keep training matrix up to date and flag needs.
• Advertise and fill vacancies with Contract Manager support.
• Complete station audits using provided tools.
• Identify failures and address KPI gaps.
• Report audit outcomes to line manager.
• Monitor cleaning to meet client requests and daily checks.
• Ensure compliance with daily checks (SQR, water, maintenance, etc.).
• Maintain fleet and equipment with client coordination.
• Collaborate with client to achieve outcomes and proactive complaint handling.

The role

Carlisle Support Services is looking for enthusiastic, reliable Area Supervisor to join a strong team of well trained, experienced, and passionate staff who strive to uphold company values and deliver exceptional services to our customers. Use the training provided to follow HSQE and rail critical safety.

Your core role will include but not be limited to the following activities:

• Rostering and Staff Allocation
• Manage staff performance using company policies and procedures.
• Ensure all staff have the relevant training as per there job as a station cleaning operative.
• All members of station cleaning team to be trained – Washroom cleaning, litter picking, waste removal, guano removal, sweeping and mopping, low and high damp dusting, vacuuming, consumable replenishment, glazing, scrubber dryers, rotary machines.
• Keep matrix up to date and act on training requirements.
• Work with Carlisle Support Services central/Assistant Contract Manager to advertise and employ any vacancies within your team.
• Use auditing tool provided to complete comprehensive station audits.
• Outline failures and rectify faults within the designated KPI.
• Report on audits at the end of each rail period to line manager.
• Monitor station cleaning to prevent client requests.
• Ensure compliance is met with all daily checks.
• Daily checks consist of but are not exclusive to SQR, unmanned building, water, bike maintenance, drinking water and rural cleans.
• Maintenance Of Fleet and Equipment
• Work in partnership with the client to ensure desired outcomes are reached.
• Put in preventative measures with support of line manager to show a proactive approach to the management of complaints.

The ideal candidate

• Good level of communication.

• Full UK Driving License would be desirable.
• Ability to solve problems and deal with ad hoc challenges.
• Ability to work from you own initiative.

Location`s covering Essex and various stations on this line

Core hours are Monday to Friday, but flexibility will be required for evenings and weekends
