Job summary

Omega Resource Group is seeking an Area Site Technician to service sites around Southampton. The role includes completing PPM schedules, performing reactive maintenance on catering and bakery equipment, and testing emergency lighting and fire alarms.

You will diagnose faults, arrange replacements, and ensure safety standards are met across multiple sites. The ideal candidate will hold NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds 236 Part 1 & 2, 18th Edition, AM2/2391, and have proven electrical maintenance

Qualifications

• Must have electrical maintenance experience in commercial/retail settings.
• Holds NVQ/City & Guilds 18th Edition, AM2/2391, and related qualifications.
• Reliable, with strong fault-finding and repair skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) within timescales.
• Perform reactive and planned maintenance on catering and bakery equipment.
• Test, maintain and repair emergency lighting and fire alarm systems.
• Conduct general building repairs across customer sites.
• Diagnose faults and recommend replacements when needed.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and standards.

Job description

Job Title: Area Site Technician

Location: Southampton

Pay Range/details: £39,825.03 per annum (salary including on call standby 1:4)

Contract Type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities

• Complete Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules within agreed timescales, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately.
• Deliver both reactive and planned maintenance on catering and bakery equipment.
• Carry out emergency lighting and fire alarm testing, maintenance, and repairs.
• Undertake general building repairs and maintenance as required across customer sites.
• Diagnose faults in plant and equipment, identifying non-repairable issues and recommending suitable replacement solutions.
• Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with relevant regulations and standards.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds 236 Part 1 & 2, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Installation or Maintenance.
• City & Guilds 18th Edition qualification.
• AM2 and/or 2391 certification.
• Proven experience in electrical maintenance within a commercial or retail environment.

Ideal Candidate

• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience using PDA/mobile job management systems.
• Ability to maintain and repair a broad range of electrical and mechanical equipment, including commercial catering and bakery equipment.
• Previous experience carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance in a retail or multi-site environment.Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
