Job summary

Thames Water in Banbury is seeking an Area Services Manager to lead a maintenance-focused team across Cotswolds, Cherwell and Oxford areas. You will drive asset efficiency, safety compliance, and service levels while delivering cost-effective maintenance plans and site improvements.

The role requires strong leadership, risk management, and collaboration with Performance Managers, with travel across sites and a 36-hour week. A DL and relevant technical background are essential.

Qualifications

• Background in industrial mechanical/electrical maintenance with planned and preventive maintenance.
• Minimum of a BTEC/NVQ L3 in Mechanical/Electrical and a BTEC/HNC Electrical/Mechanical, or ICA background.
• Experienced people-manager with a track record mentoring apprentices.
• Lead with strong health, safety and legislative awareness and application.
• NEBOSH would be ideal; required if not already held.
• Excellent communication and IT skills, including Excel; SAP data interrogation desirable.

Responsibilities

• Focus on maintenance strategies to support asset efficiencies, reduced failure rates and site resilience.
• Provide technical input to site improvement projects for effective solutions.
• Identify, mitigate, resolve and escalate risk across the site and team.
• Own and optimise the maintenance delivery plan in line with the process delivery plan.
• Monitor plant performance, investigate critical failures and implement corrective actions.
• Drive improvements to reduce maintenance serviceability costs by asset type.
