Job summary

BardWood Support Services Limited is seeking an Area Relief Officer to cover Ashton-in-Makerfield, Leigh, Skelmersdale and surrounding areas. You will ensure safety and security across client sites, provide a proactive public-facing presence, and support a portfolio of locations within a defined region.

The role requires an SIA licence, a full UK driving licence, and a 5-year checkable work history. You will work day shifts, interacting with staff and the public to maintain order and safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide relief cover and support to a portfolio of locations within a geographical region.
• Maintain safe environments for staff and customers.
• Provide a proactive presence in public areas and offer directional guidance.
• Work with customers to resolve conflicts on client premises.
• Ensure staff and the public comply with site rules and guidance.
• Use initiative and involve others if situations become threatening.
• Maintain a smart appearance and visible security presence on site.
• Provide First Aid if required (training provided).
• Complete legible incident reports when incidents arise.
• Maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all.

About the role:

Title – Area Relief Officer

Pay Rate – £13.45 per hour

Location – Ashton-in-Makerfield, Leigh, Skelmersdale, Wigan

Shift Timings – Day shifts - Monday to Saturday: 08:45-17:15, Area Relief Officer to cover Ashton-in-Makerfield, Leigh, Skelmersdale, Wigan

You will be working in a site-based role within the public sector, where officers are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of both staff and visitors.

Your main responsibilities may include:

• Trained to provide relief cover and support to a portfolio of locations within a geographical region.
• All the tasks and activities as per the site operational guidance and Assignment Instructions. Provide quality service delivery.
• Manage and maintain a safe environment for the client’s staff and customers.
• Provide a proactive presence in all public facing areas as activity requires. This will include providing a positive initial reception for clients and directional guidance.
• Working directly with the customer as part of a team to provide conflict resolution at our client’s premises where there is potential for conflict.
• Working closely with your fellow colleagues to ensure members of the public comply with site rules and guidance.
• Use common sense and initiative immediately involving others if a situation becomes threatening.
• To have a smart appearance, always be alert and visible whilst commanding a security presence within the customer premises
• Be able to administer First Aid assistance if a member of public or client’s staff was to be suddenly taken unwell (training will be provided)
• Complete legible incident report writing if and when an incident arises.
• Work to maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for everyone.

To succeed in this role, you will need the following:

• SIA License.
• Full UK driving license.
• 5-year checkable work/career history.
• Full driving license and access to own transport is essential.
• Prior experience of working in a customer-facing environment and dealing directly with staff/customers.
• Physically fit to undertake given tasks.
• Possess the ability to work under pressure.
• Flexible attitude and the ability to adapt.
• Security and operational system competence
