Job summary

Thorn Baker Facilities Management in the North West is recruiting an Area Cleaning Supervisor to oversee cleaning operations across 7 sites including Liverpool, Bolton, Warrington, Preston and Trafford. A hands-on role with multi-site responsibility, requiring own transport and strong people management.

You will support the Area Manager to staff sites, maintain high cleaning standards and provide training and resources to teams, visiting sites regularly to resolve issues and drive service

Qualifications

• Experience supervising cleaning teams across multiple sites.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence with access to reliable transport.

Responsibilities

• Support Area Manager with day-to-day contract operations.
• Manage and update staff rotas to ensure adequate site coverage.
• Assist with payroll administration and timesheet checks.
• Support recruitment including interviews for vacancies.
• Coordinate inductions and training for cleaning operatives.
• Visit sites regularly to support teams and monitor standards.
• Check QSHE paperwork and ensure proper documentation.
• Carry out cleaning audits and follow up on improvements.
• Order cleaning products and equipment as needed.
• Support absence management and arrange cover when required.
• Ensure adherence to company procedures and safety standards.

Are you an experienced Cleaning Supervisor or Team Leader looking for your next step into a multi-site role? Or perhaps you're already working in cleaning or facilities management and enjoy supporting teams, maintaining standards and keeping operations running smoothly?

We're recruiting an Area Cleaning Supervisor to support cleaning operations across 7 sites throughout the North West, including Liverpool, Bolton, Warrington, Preston and Trafford.

Working closely with the Area Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring sites are fully staffed, cleaning standards are maintained and teams have the support, training and resources they need to succeed.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an experienced Cleaning Supervisor that has experience covering multi sites so own transport is essential

You’ll need to be organised, proactive and confident supporting teams across multiple locations. Strong communication skills, good attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential.

Previous experience with rotas, payroll, recruitment, audits or compliance paperwork would be advantageous.

A full UK driving licence and access to reliable transport will be important for travelling between sites.

What will you be doing?

You’ll work alongside the Area Manager to support the smooth running of cleaning operations across all 7 sites, with responsibilities including:

• Supporting the Area Manager with the day-to-day running of the contracts.
• Managing and updating staff rotas to ensure sites are adequately covered.
• Assisting with payroll administration, timesheets and checking working hours.
• Supporting recruitment, including arranging and conducting interviews for vacancies.
• Coordinating inductions, training and refresher training for cleaning operatives.
• Visiting sites regularly to support teams, resolve issues and maintain standards.
• Checking QSHE (Quality, Safety, Health and Environment) paperwork and ensuring documentation is completed correctly.
• Carrying out cleaning audits and inspections, identifying areas for improvement and following up on actions.
• Ordering cleaning products, materials and equipment to ensure sites are adequately stocked.
• Supporting absence management and helping arrange cover when required.
• Ensuring company procedures, health and safety requirements and cleaning standards are consistently followed.
• Building positive working relationships with site teams, clients and management.
