Job summary

STACK Infrastructure in the United Kingdom seeks an experienced Architectural SME to provide client-site architectural expertise across hyperscale Data Centre projects from due diligence to handover. You will review and challenge architectural designs, ensuring alignment with STACK standards, regulatory obligations and operational needs.

You'll work with external architects, consultants and contractors across multiple European jurisdictions, addressing buildability, coordination and risk while

Qualifications

• A degree in Architecture or a closely related discipline.
• At least 5 years’ experience specifically within Data Centre design, development and/or construction.
• Experience working on hyperscale or large-scale mission-critical Data Centre projects.
• Strong experience reviewing and challenging designs produced by third-party architects, engineering consultants and contractors.
• Good understanding of the complete design and construction lifecycle from feasibility through handover.
• Experience with European building regulations, codes, planning and permitting processes across multiple jurisdictions.
• Fluent professional English and willingness to travel across Europe.

Responsibilities

• Act as STACK’s Architectural Subject Matter Expert across Data Centre development and construction projects.
• Review and challenge architectural designs, drawings, specifications and technical submissions from consultants, contractors and specialists.
• Provide architectural input throughout the project lifecycle from site selection through handover.
• Identify architectural, buildability, coordination and regulatory risks early and help teams develop practical solutions.
• Review site layouts, massing, circulation, access, logistics and operational functionality.
• Ensure designs integrate with structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, security and fire/life-safety requirements.
• Review detailed design packages including building envelope, materials, internal layouts and interfaces with critical systems.
• Support design reviews and stage-gate approvals including deviations from STACK standards.
• Provide architectural support during construction including design changes, site inspections and issue resolution.
• Support project completion, snagging, handover and review of as-built information.
• Navigate planning, permitting and regulatory requirements across European jurisdictions.
• Engage with internal stakeholders, customers, consultants and contractors to resolve technical issues.
• Contribute to STACK architectural standards, specifications and reference designs.
• Capture lessons learned from live projects for wider application.
