Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Associate Director – Architecture (NSQEP) to provide architectural leadership on defence, research and nuclear infrastructure projects. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, shape design strategy and ensure outputs meet nuclear safety requirements and Defence standards.

This role is based in Adelaide, with relocation considered for suitably qualified candidates. You will mentor staff, engage clients, and drive innovative design solutions while upholding governance and safety.

Qualifications

• Accredited degree in Architecture; NSQEP experience preferred.
• Leadership in complex defence, research, healthcare or safety-critical projects is highly regarded.
• Experience delivering in highly regulated environments with nuclear/defence exposure valued.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design and delivery for defence, research and nuclear projects.
• Provide design leadership across multidisciplinary teams for high-quality outcomes.
• Oversee outputs supporting nuclear safety, regulatory approvals and project governance.
• Act as trusted advisor to clients, stakeholders and partners across all project phases.
• Guide development of innovative, practical, resilient design solutions across complex buildings.
• Mentor architecture team members and foster collaborative culture.
• Support business growth through client engagement and technical leadership.
