Job summary

Service Care Solutions are recruiting an experienced Arboricultural Consultant / Tree Surveyor to support construction and development projects in Borough Green, Kent.

You will conduct tree surveys, prepare Arboricultural Impact Assessments and Method Statements, and work with architects, engineers, developers and local planning authorities to ensure trees are protected throughout planning and construction.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 4 Diploma in Arboriculture or equivalent qualification.
• At least two years' experience delivering tree surveys for commercial development projects.
• Strong knowledge of BS 5837:2012.
• Experience preparing Arboricultural Impact Assessments and Arboricultural Method Statements.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, KeyTree, QGIS or similar software.

Responsibilities

• Undertake tree surveys, assessing species, dimensions, health, structural condition and life expectancy.
• Prepare reports in line with BS 5837:2012, including AIA and AMS.
• Produce TCP and TPP using CAD or GIS software.
• Calculate Root Protection Areas and assess tree retention categories.
• Advise design teams on tree protection and mitigation measures.
• Liaise with local planning authorities regarding TPOs and Conservation Areas.
• Carry out site monitoring to ensure tree protection measures are implemented.

Arboricultural Consultant / Tree Surveyor

Location: Borough Green, Kent

Salary: £30,000 to £45,000 depending on experience

Contract: Full-time, permanent

About the Role

Service Care Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Arboricultural Consultant / Tree Surveyor to support construction and development projects in Borough Green.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified arboricultural professional with experience in commercial development surveys, tree assessments and planning requirements. You will work closely with architects, engineers, developers and local planning authorities to ensure trees are appropriately assessed and protected throughout the planning and construction process.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake tree surveys, assessing species, dimensions, health, structural condition and life expectancy.
• Prepare technical reports in line with BS 5837:2012, including Arboricultural Impact Assessments (AIA) and Arboricultural Method Statements (AMS).
• Produce Tree Constraints Plans (TCP) and Tree Protection Plans (TPP) using CAD or GIS software.
• Calculate Root Protection Areas (RPAs) and assess tree retention categories.
• Advise design and construction teams on tree protection, mitigation measures and potential development constraints.
• Liaise with local planning authorities regarding Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) and Conservation Areas.
• Carry out site monitoring and inspections throughout construction to ensure tree protection measures are implemented correctly.
• Recommend practical solutions to minimise the impact of construction works on retained trees.
• Ensure arboricultural reports, plans and site activities comply with relevant standards and planning requirements.

Requirements

• Minimum Level 4 Diploma in Arboriculture or an equivalent relevant qualification.
• At least two years' experience delivering tree surveys for commercial development projects.
• Strong practical knowledge of BS 5837:2012.
• Experience preparing Arboricultural Impact Assessments, Arboricultural Method Statements and tree protection plans.
• Knowledge of tree retention categories, Root Protection Area calculations and construction-related tree protection.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, KeyTree, QGIS or similar software.
• Experience using digital tree survey and data collection systems.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
• Professional membership of the Arboricultural Association or registration with the Institute of Chartered Foresters, or working towards an appropriate professional grade.

A Level 5 or Level 6 qualification, degree in Arboriculture or Urban Forestry, Lantra Professional Tree Inspection qualification and valid CSCS card would be advantageous.
