Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Approved Mental Health Professional to join a dedicated team in Lancashire. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced, supportive environment, responsible for coordinating assessments and demonstrating principles of the Mental Health Act, such as the least restrictive and participation principles. You will ensure humane and dignified treatment during hospital conveyance and provide statutory emergency duty responses outside of office hours, including weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responding to adults in need of mental health assessment, safeguarding, and social care emergency interventions.
  • Managing safeguarding risks within a multi-agency environment.
  • Applying for detention under the Mental Health Act and managing Community Treatment Orders and Guardianship requests.
  • For trained Best Interest Assessors, recommending deprivation of liberty under the Mental Capacity Act.
Candidate Requirements
  • Professional Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
  • Qualified AMHP.
  • Post-qualification experience, especially with complex cases.
  • Willingness to undergo enhanced disclosure checks.
  • Availability to work out of hours, including weekends and bank holidays.
Key Responsibilities
  • Managing out-of-hours referrals and making complex decisions across social work duties.
  • Conducting assessments and sharing outcomes appropriately.
  • Arranging hospital admissions or referring to alternative options.
  • Ensuring effective safeguarding interventions and managing investigations.
