Job summary

Barking & Dagenham College invites an experienced Apprenticeship Manager - Electrical to lead our Electrical Apprenticeship provision. You will oversee Trainer Coaches and Apprenticeship Lecturers, drive curriculum innovation, quality, and employer engagement, while aligning programmes to industry standards.

Reporting to the Head of Apprenticeships, you will manage resources, participate in course approvals, End Point Assessment readiness, and develop staff through coaching and performance

Qualifications

  • A recognised teaching qualification (Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent).
  • Assessor and Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualifications.
  • Appropriate Level 3 subject specialism (Electrical).
  • Demonstrable experience of leading teams and individuals including staff development and mentoring in a Further Education College
  • Experience leading apprenticeship teams and developing high-performing staff.
  • Strong knowledge of apprenticeship standards, End Point Assessment (EPA) and quality assurance processes.
  • Experience working with awarding organisations, self-assessment and quality improvement planning.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use performance data to drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the design of the curriculum to ensure apprenticeship standard knowledge, skills and behaviours, core skills and other relevant work related training are fully planned.
  • Lead course approval with awarding body as required and maintain relationship with awarding body including EQA visits and relevant external verification (where required). This includes liaison and planning with the Quality team.
  • Review and monitor the quality of the relevant planning and teaching resources to deliver high quality training including course outline; scheme of work; lesson plans; assessment requirements planned (for entire course delivery); opportunities for embedding of literacy and numeracy and online learning.
  • Lead the operational management of Electrical Apprenticeship programmes, ensuring high-quality teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Manage, develop and inspire Trainer Coaches and Apprenticeship Lecturers through effective leadership, coaching, appraisals and performance management.
  • Support and monitor the delivery of the standard implementation plan to meet planned starts. End Point Assessment (EPA) systems and Processes.
  • Oversee curriculum planning, apprenticeship standards implementation and End Point Assessment (EPA) readiness.
  • Monitor learner progress, retention, achievement and employer satisfaction, implementing interventions where required to improve outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, awarding organisations and external stakeholders.
  • Lead Internal Quality Assurance (IQA), support External Quality Assurance (EQA) activity and drive continuous quality improvement.
  • Manage curriculum resources, staffing, timetabling and operational planning to ensure efficient delivery.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, cross-college initiatives and the continued growth of apprenticeship provision.

What You'll Be Doing

As Apprenticeship Manager - Electrical, you'll provide operational leadership for our Electrical Apprenticeship provision, leading a team of Trainer Coaches and Apprenticeship Lecturers to deliver exceptional learner, employer and quality outcomes. Working closely with the Head of Apprenticeships, you'll drive curriculum innovation, quality improvement and employer engagement while ensuring programmes remain aligned to industry and apprenticeship reforms. Please note, this position is fixed-term for the period of twelve months.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitor the design of the curriculum to ensure apprenticeship standard knowledge, skills and behaviours, core skills and other relevant work related training are fully planned.
