Job summary

BYD Stourbridge is seeking an enthusiastic Apprentice Vehicle Technician to join our Aftersales team, offering hands-on experience with electric and hybrid vehicle technology in a modern workshop.

You will learn to service, maintain, diagnose and repair vehicles while working towards nationally recognised automotive qualifications and earning while you learn.

Qualifications

• GCSE Grade 4 or above in Maths and English.
• Genuine interest in cars, technology and electric vehicles.
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines.
• Full UK driving licence preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out vehicle inspections and servicing.
• Assist with vehicle diagnostics and fault finding.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing.
• Learn to remove, replace and repair vehicle components.
• Diagnose engine, chassis and electrical faults.
• Support maintenance and repair of electric and hybrid vehicles.
• Learn to use specialist automotive tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Work alongside experienced technicians.
• Follow safe working practices around EV systems.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop.

You’ll work alongside our experienced technicians in a modern workshop, learning the skills needed to service, maintain, diagnose and repair vehicles while working towards nationally recognised automotive qualifications.

You’ll earn while you learn, combining practical experience at BYD Stourbridge with structured training.

What Will You Be Doing?

No two days in the workshop are exactly the same. Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll develop practical skills across a wide range of vehicle maintenance and repair tasks, including:
