Job summary

South Western Railway is seeking an Apprenticeship Programme Manager to implement and improve apprenticeship programmes across the network. You will engage stakeholders, promote schemes, maintain accurate records and support development of apprentices and colleagues.

You'll coach and mentor apprentices, assist line managers with apprenticeship requirements, and communicate with the wider business. The role is based in Southampton with travel across the network as required.

Qualifications

  • A levels or equivalent plus GCSEs in Maths and English (A-C) or equivalent.
  • Interest in Learning and Development and the learning cycle would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of apprenticeships and safeguarding.
  • Good working knowledge of IT systems and packages.
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work to a high standard in pressurised situations.
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring and providing personal and professional development solutions.
  • Project Management experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and improve SWR apprenticeship programmes.
  • Engage stakeholders to promote apprenticeship schemes and a wide range of colleagues and external customers.
  • Promote inclusivity in recruitment and apprenticeship offers.
  • Provide support and appropriate development of apprentices and colleagues.
  • Act as a coach and mentor to apprentices and colleagues.
  • Maintain auditable and accurate information on training and produce/maintain evaluation reports.
  • Build relationships with external stakeholders, including employer groups, trailblazers, training providers and Government bodies.
