THERMAL INSULATION APPRENTICE

POSITION: Apprentice Thermal Insulation Engineer

LOCATION: Hull

Role Summary

This is a great opportunity to join an established and well respected business as a Thermal Insulation Apprentice and gain specialist skills and qualifications in thermal insulation, with both on the job training and formal off site training.

Salary and Benefits

• This is an Apprentice role - £10.17 ph Year 1, £13.71 ph Year 2, £14.91 ph Year 3 and £15.31 ph Year 4
• 25 days of holiday + Bank Hols
• Mon to Fri schedule - 38 hours

Training Programme

• On-the-job training: Learn alongside experienced team members.
• Block release training: Two-week training blocks every three months at TICA (Darlington) over 18 months.
• Certification: Industry-recognized qualifications and additional certifications such as CCNSG, COSHH, Abrasive Wheels, Manual Handling, and Confined Space.
• Qualification: Full indentures awarded after four years of on-site experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Install lagging and cladding on pipework, vessels, and ductwork to specification.
• Measure, cut, and fabricate insulation materials using tools such as knives, scissors, and saws.
• Secure insulation using fasteners, adhesives, and other methods.
• Inspect existing insulation systems and recommend repairs or replacements.
• Safely remove old or damaged insulation.
• Follow safety protocols and risk assessments.
• Maintain tools and equipment and keep accurate records of work completed.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

• PLEASE NOTE - DUE TO SITE ACCESS APPLICANTS MUST BE AGED 20 +
• Clean driving licence (essential).
• Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a practical, hands-on approach.
• Ability to adapt to different environments (e.g., heights, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions).
• Willingness to travel and work away from home when required.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
• Strong time management and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to represent the company professionally on-site.
