Job summary

Warwick District Council is seeking a motivated candidate for an Apprentice Safeguarding Officer. This 24-month apprenticeship offers a nationally recognised Level 3 Safeguarding Support Officer qualification while gaining practical experience in safeguarding, community safety, and public service.

You will support referrals, triage concerns, maintain records, and work with partners to promote resident wellbeing and safety. This role is based at Saltisford One, Warwick.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • The ability to work professionally with colleagues, councillors, partners and members of the public.
  • An organised and adaptable approach, with the maturity to handle sensitive safeguarding information appropriately.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day safeguarding activities, including assisting with referrals and information requests.
  • Triaging concerns and maintaining records.
  • Preparing reports and meeting documentation.
  • Supporting safeguarding projects and awareness initiatives across the Council.
  • Work with a range of internal and external partners to promote wellbeing and safety.

Point 1 - £16,106 a year – initial salary for all new starters for the first 12 months of the apprenticeship.

Progression of pay after 12 months are complete as follows:

Point 2 - £21,848 a year - completed 12 months and aged 18 – 20

Point 3 - £25,584 a year - completed 12 months and aged 21+

This exciting apprenticeship offers the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised Level 3 Safeguarding Support Officer qualification while developing practical experience in safeguarding, community safety and public service. You will support day-to-day safeguarding activities, including assisting with referrals and information requests, triaging concerns, maintaining records, preparing reports and meeting documentation, and supporting safeguarding projects and awareness initiatives across the Council. Working alongside experienced professionals, you will develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to contribute to safeguarding decisions, work with a range of internal and external partners, and promote the wellbeing, safety and dignity of residents. We are looking for someone with strong communication skills, good attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and a genuine commitment to supporting others.

What we're looking for:
