Change Grow Live invites applications for an Apprentice Probation Worker in the Dewsbury area. The role offers a starting salary of £16,438.50 during the first year and a chance to gain a Level 2 Adult Care Qualification upon completion of the apprenticeship.

The contract runs for 14 months as a fixed-term position with potential progression within the criminal justice and recovery services. The ideal candidate has lived experience of the Criminal Justice system and a passion for social care,

Responsibilities

• Support service users involved with HM Probation Service and Criminal Justice System from entry into service through their treatment/recovery.
• Provide screening, assessment, psychosocial interventions, recovery planning and onward referral.
• Reduce drug and alcohol related harm to service users and the wider community journey.
• Support the Criminal Justice team with assessment and management of risk posed by offenders to protect victims and the public.
• Conduct alcohol and drug tests.
• Advise and work with criminal courts and other partner agencies.

About the opportunity: We have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Probation Worker to join our team in Dewsbury. CGL Kirklees is an adult treatment and recovery service providing pharmacological and psychosocial interventions to the community facing issues with drugs and alcohol use. At the end of your apprenticeship, you will be awarded a Level 2 Adult Care Qualification.

This is a 14 month Fixed Term Contract. If you have lived experience in the criminal justice system or experience of drugs and alcohol and offending, including concerned others, and are passionate about making a difference, your journey is an essential part of the collective narrative.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Learn During Your Apprenticeship:

• Supporting service users involved with HM Probation Service and Criminal Justice System from the point of entry into service and through their treatment/recovery


• Providing screening, assessment, psychosocial interventions, recovery planning and onward referral


• Reducing drug and alcohol related harm to service users and the wider community journey


• Supporting the Criminal Justice team with the assessment and management of risk posed by offenders to protect victims of crime and the general public


• Conducting alcohol and drug tests


• Advising and working with criminal courts, criminal justice agencies and other partner agencies

We’re looking for someone with:

• Lived experience of the Criminal Justice system.


• An interest in the social care field, particularly in substance use and recovery.


• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, with a willingness to collaborate with managers, colleagues, and peers to achieve shared goals.


• Effective time management and the ability to work independently when needed.


• Familiarity with IT applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.


• A commitment to personal and professional development, with a proactive approach to learning.


• A passion for creating positive outcomes for the people we support and for yourself.
