Job summary

GAP Group Limited offers an award-winning Apprenticeship Programme to become a Plant Mechanic. This 3-year course runs Monday to Friday, 8-5, with no weekend work, and provides hands-on experience under expert fitters while earning a salary.

Starting salaries are £16,224 for under 18s and £17,860 for over 18s, with progression after Year 1 to the National Minimum Wage rate for age. Year 1 will lay a solid foundation in servicing and repairs.

Qualifications

• A genuine interest in plant machinery and engineering.
• A high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication skills and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Learn how to service, maintain and repair a wide range of plant machinery and equipment.
• Replace components, check systems and calibrate instruments.
• Develop core engineering skills while exposed to modern tech like electro hydraulics and computerised control systems.
• Work alongside experienced fitters to gain hands-on, real-world experience in a busy workshop.
