GTG Training Limited in Paisley is recruiting an Apprentice Mechanic for an independent garage, offering a full-time position where you earn while you learn and gain hands-on experience in vehicle repair and maintenance.

The Modern Apprenticeship Programme combines in-work training with week-block centre training, with mentors from GTG and your workplace guiding you to complete the apprenticeship and achieve SCQF Level 7 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.

Qualifications

• You must have or expect to gain National 4 or above in English, Maths, and either a Science or Technical Subject.
• Regular assessment and reviews will be undertaken within the apprentice's own workplace with dedicated mentors from GTG and the apprentice’s workplace, which aims to ensure they have the required skills to successfully complete their apprenticeship.
• During the 3 year apprenticeship, candidates will train through GTG to SCQF Level 7 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
• We are looking for candidates who want to kickstart their career in the automotive industry and who are keen to learn.

Responsibilities

• You will be based within the garage workshop and will be involved in learning all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance, including vehicle servicing, MOT preparation, removal, replacement and overhaul of major components and electrical fault diagnostics.

The Modern Apprenticeship Programmes allow apprentices to work full time andearn while they learn putting theory into practice within a training environment.

As well as attending the training centre for week block release of training, regular assessment and reviews will be undertaken within the apprentice's own workplace which aims to ensure they have the required skills to successfully complete their apprenticeship.

What Might a Typical Day in this Job look like?

You will be based within the garage workshop and will be involved in learning all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance, including vehicle servicing, MOT preparation, removal, replacement and overhaul of major components and electrical fault diagnostics.

Examples of the units covered are:

• Materials, fabrication, tools and measuring devices used in the automotive environment
• Inspection of light vehicles
• Diagnosing and rectifying chassis units and components
• Diagnosing and rectifying vehicle engines and component faults
• Ensuring your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
• Contributing to workplace good housekeeping

What will I learn?
