Job summary

The Growth Company: Education & Skills is offering an apprenticeship focused on material testing, where you would learn to prepare samples and perform tests on soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt to ensure industry standards are met. You will work in a small team, guided and trained by experienced technicians.

New entrants receive full training and ongoing support with a clear path toward a permanent full-time position as skills and confidence grow.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at A*-C/9-4 would be desirable.
• Reliable, punctual and keen to learn.
• Good level of attention to detail and able to follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for testing.
• Test soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt for strength and density.
• Complete test documentation on an electronic tablet.
• Check equipment calibration status.
• Follow quality, health, safety & environmental procedures.
• Lift sample bags weighing 20–25 kg.
• Assemble materials to carry out testing activities.

About This Opportunity

An interesting and detailed role, ensuring product quality is consistent with intended use. Successful applicants would be working with a small team of technicians, testing concrete, aggregates and soils to ensure suitability to industry standards.

A Normal Day Would Include

• Undertaking preparation of samples for testing
• Testing soils, aggregates, concrete & asphalt for strength & density
• Filling out all test documentation correctly via electronic tablet
• Checking equipment calibration status
• Adhering to quality, health & safety & environmental procedures
• Lifting of sample bags weighing between 20 – 25kg
• Assembly of various materials to carry out the testing activities
• Chance to progress to a permanent full-time position
