Job summary

Normec Group in Northampton is seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to contribute to materials testing, including Soils, Aggregates, Bituminous and cementitious products to BS and BSEN standards. You will schedule samples, organise lab workflows and present data.

The role is a 40-hour week, Monday to Friday, based on-site with free parking. You will train others, perform routine equipment checks, maintain cleanliness, and uphold Health & Safety and Quality manuals.

Qualifications

  • Experience with quality systems and safety standards.
  • Proficient in Excel and Word for data handling.
  • Able to follow procedures and work in a lab environment.

Responsibilities

  • Laboratory testing of materials to BS/BSEN standards.
  • Schedule test samples and organise laboratory samples.
  • Prepare and present test data.
  • Train team members on test methods.
  • Cross-check calculations after tests.
  • Daily equipment checks and routine maintenance.
  • Keep work areas clean and tidy.
  • Ad-hoc duties as required.
  • Report any health and safety concerns.

Step Into the Role

Role Accountabilities and Main Duties:

  • Laboratory testing of materials such as Soils, Aggregates, Bituminous and cementitious to BS and BSEN standards
  • Scheduling of test samples for the required testing
  • Organisation of Laboratory samples
  • Preparation and presentation of test data.
  • Training other team members on test methods as required.
  • Cross-checking other team members’ calculations following tests.
  • Carrying out daily equipment checks and routine maintenance whilst maintaining cleanliness standards.
  • Ensure that all work areas are kept clean and tidy
  • Ad-hoc duties as and when required.
