Job summary

Skills4Group in Castleford is seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician Apprentice to join our laboratory team. This role offers hands-on training while working towards a Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship.

You will support day-to-day testing, prepare samples, record results, and maintain a clean, safe work environment. GCSEs in Maths, English and Science are desirable but not essential, with full training and progression opportunities provided.

Qualifications

• Ability to work unsupervised following a planned work schedule.
• Good writing and numeracy skills.
• Familiarity with computers, keyboards and typing.
• Experience with Word, Excel, Access – statistics, graphs, data analysis.
• General awareness of safety, especially lab safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist with laboratory tests and experiments under supervision.

Brief Description

Castleford, WF10 1NJ - We are looking for a motivated and practical Laboratory Technician Apprentice to join our laboratory team. This is a great opportunity to earn while you learn, developing hands‑on laboratory skills while working towards a Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship.

Qualifications Required

GCSEs in Maths, English, and a science subject (or equivalent) at grade 4-9 or equivalent.

Personal Qualities

Because of the technical experience you will gain from working in a laboratory, you will gain skills which many graduates have yet to develop. If you have practical ability, ability to solve problems and good communication skills there are opportunities for progression towards higher qualifications.

About the role:

As a Laboratory Technician Apprentice, you will support the day‑to‑day work of the laboratory, assisting with testing, preparing samples and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. You will be trained and supported throughout the apprenticeship.
