Job summary

Lift Schools invite aspiring English teachers to join their school-based Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programme as a Trainee English Teacher through an Apprenticeship route. Earn while you learn, gaining practical classroom experience and working toward a PGCE and QTS with expert mentoring.

The programme lasts 1 year full-time, with Summer School in August 2027. Eligibility includes a 2:2 degree (English preferred), GCSEs in English and Maths, and the right to work in the UK; applicants must

Qualifications

• Degree: an undergraduate degree with a 2:2 classification or above by the start of the programme.
• A degree in English (or related field) is preferred or a strong A-Level in English Language (Grade C+) will be considered.
• Right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the training year.
• Must not currently hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Responsibilities

• Gain practical classroom experience as an apprentice English teacher.
• Participate in weekly training sessions and mentorship.
• Work towards PGCE and QTS while teaching under supervision.
• Collaborate with Ark Teacher Training and Lift Schools networks for support.
