Job summary

AFI-Rentals is seeking an Apprentice Engineer at our Caldicot depot. The role combines practical workshop experience with block-release training at F-TEC in Swindon to achieve a Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard.

You will learn to service and maintain our fleet of modern truck-mounted and powered access machinery, working alongside experienced engineers to master complex systems.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English with grade 4/C or above (or equivalent).
• Interest and natural aptitude for practical engineering.
• Genuine enthusiasm for the role and a strong desire to learn.
• Ability to work well under pressure and follow safety instructions.
• Willingness to attend block-release training at F-TEC Swindon.
• Full UK driving licence or working towards one is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Depot Training: Inspect, service, fault-find, and repair systems on our fleet.
• Block Release College: Attend structured modules at F-TEC Swindon to earn Level 3 Apprenticeship.
• Safety & Standards: Carry out PDIs and maintain accurate service records to ensure machines meet safety and industry regulations.

Based from, our Caldicot depot, this 3-year apprenticeship combines practical, real-world workshop experience alongside specialist block-release training at F-TEC in Swindon, the UK's leading training provider for the powered access and material handling sectors.

About the RoleAs an Apprentice Engineer, you will gain valuable practical experience servicing and maintaining our expanding hire fleet of modern truck-mounted and powered access machinery. Working alongside experienced service engineers, you will learn to master complex systems.

• Depot Training: Inspect, service, fault-find, and repair systems on our fleet.
• Block Release College: Attend structured block-release modules at F-TEC Swindon to earn your Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard.
• Safety & Standards: Carry out Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDIs) and maintain accurate service records to ensure machines meet strict safety and industry regulations.
