Job summary

Heritage Portfolio is recruiting for an Apprentice Commis Chef in Scotland. You will train in a busy kitchen, learning to prepare, cook and present high-quality dishes while earning a wage and gaining a recognised qualification.

The Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 5 runs for approximately 12 months, delivered with MGT Training. No prior experience is required, just a genuine passion for food and a positive attitude to learn.

Qualifications

• No previous professional kitchen experience required; genuine interest in food and learning.
• Willingness to learn through practical experience in a busy kitchen.
• Ability to work as part of a team and follow guidance from experienced chefs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing ingredients, dishes and menu items under supervision.
• Prepare kitchen and service areas before busy periods and maintain hygiene standards.
• Follow menus, recipes and portion controls to ensure quality and safety.
