Job summary

GTG Training Limited invites applications for an apprentice in our West Midlands garage, based at the new VMU site in Wednesbury. You will learn all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance, including servicing, MOT preparation, and component overhauls, supported by dedicated mentors.

You will train through GTG Wolverhampton, attending block release weeks to achieve Level 2 Autocare, with GCSEs in Maths and English required and a proactive, safety-focused mindset.

Qualifications

• GCSE level or above in Maths and English.
• We are looking for candidates who want to kickstart their career in the automotive industry and who are keen to learn.

Responsibilities

• Learn all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance.
• Assist with servicing, MOT preparation and component overhauls.

What Might a Typical Day in this Job look like?

You will be based within the garage workshop and will be involved in learning all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance, including vehicle servicing, MOT preparation, removal, replacement and overhaul of major components and electrical fault diagnostics.

Examples of the units covered are:

• Materials, fabrication, tools and measuring devices used in the automotive environment
• Inspection of light vehicles
• Diagnosing and rectifying chassis units and components
• Diagnosing and rectifying vehicle engines andcomponentfaults
• Ensuring your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
• Contributing to workplace good housekeeping

What will I learn?

Regular assessment and reviews will be undertaken within the apprentice's own workplace with dedicated mentors from GTG and the apprentice’s workplace, which aims to ensure they have the required skills to successfully complete their apprenticeship.

Youwill train through GTGWolverhampton, by attending block release training weeks,to achieve Level2 Autocare.

What qualifications or qualities arerequired?

GCSE Level or above in Maths, English

What personal qualities arerequired?

You must be dedicated and have a proactive approach to your work and learning.

Youare able toprioritise and work to timelines.

A willingness to work in a practical environment using your own initiative.

A full UK Driving licence is not essential but preferred.
