Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an Applied AI Engineer in London to design, build, and deploy AI systems that deliver measurable business outcomes for enterprise customers. You will work hands-on across model behavior, reliability, latency, and governance, translating deployment experience into high-signal product feedback.

The role is hybrid with 3 days in the office per week and relocation assistance for new hires, enabling collaboration with OpenAI Product, Research, and Security teams to scale impactful

Qualifications

• Proven track record designing and delivering AI/ML systems in enterprise settings.
• Experience turning prototypes into production-grade deployments.
• Strong ability to reason about model behavior, reliability, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Partner with enterprise customers to translate needs into architectures and plans.
• Design, build, and deploy AI systems delivering measurable business outcomes.
• Write and debug code, build evaluation harnesses, and reference implementations.
• Make technical decisions across models, retrieval, tooling, data, and governance.
• Troubleshoot complex implementation challenges and drive resolutions.
