Job summary

Precision People is seeking an Applications Engineer with a CNC grinding background to support customers across the UK and beyond. The role combines home-based technical work with customer visits, programming and demonstrations, and international travel.

You'll review drawings, develop machining strategies, and work with sales to showcase turnkey solutions. Training is provided, and a hybrid workload is expected in Warwickshire.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with CNC grinding or strong understanding of grinding processes.
• Experience in cutting tool industry, carbide drills/end mills/inserts is highly relevant.
• Experience with grinding/machining equipment (ANCA, Walter, Rollomatic, Vollmer, Makino G5) preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and 3D CAD models.
• CAD/CAM experience; NX beneficial; HyperMill/iCAM/SolidWorks also valued.
• Interest in 5-axis machining and related tooling knowledge.
• Relevant apprenticeship, HND, degree or equivalent industry experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support across the customer journey from initial applications to sales support.
• Program machinery and provide operator training at customer sites.
• Prepare time studies and select workholding, tooling and machining strategies.
• Visit customer sites with the sales team to support applications and business cases.
• Develop turnkey machining solutions with internal teams and machine tool manufacturers.
• Attend trade shows, demonstrations, and customer-facing events.
• Travel across Europe with customers for demonstrations and project support.
• Support UK, Ireland and international projects as required.
