Overview

Were currently searching for a process driven Applications Engineer to join a company that design and manufacture state-of-the-art precision engineering instruments used in a range of industries such as optics, medical devices, automotive, and aerospace. This Applications Engineer position involves customer support, collection and management of customer requirements, market research and collaboration on the development of engineering solutions and new customer projects.

Responsibilities

• Requirements capture, customer trials, scoping, estimates and preparing of technical specifications, supporting sales and engineering teams during tender and quotation stages of new and existing product enquires
• Collaborate on market research projects and marketing campaigns
• Liaise with customers to plan and maintain standardised service and support agreements
• Handle customer enquiries as part of the customer-facing team, which requires a detailed technical understanding of company products
• Support the engineering team during fulfilment, ensuring modifications or changes to technical scope are managed and communicated to all stakeholders

Qualifications

• Strong academic background in optics, physics, engineering or related discipline
• Experience as an applications engineer in an optics-related context
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, incl. fluent written and spoken English
• Good general IT skills, incl. MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Teams, SharePoint, One Drive
• Good commercial awareness
• Ability to manage and plan work to meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities
• Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively, with customers and colleagues
• Flexible approach to work and able to work occasional overtime at short notice, with national and international travel expected
