Job summary

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is seeking a qualified Anatomical Pathology Technician to join the Bereavement and Mortuary Service. The role involves assisting in mortuary duties, handling coronial and hospital post-mortems, and supporting the bereaved with empathy and professionalism.

Applicants should have RSPH Level 3 or 4 in Anatomical Pathology or an equivalent qualification, and be able to work across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate empathy towards the bereaved.
• Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
• Hands-on experience in mortuary environments is essential.
• Knowledge of current post mortem requirements and HTA standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist pathologist during coronial and hospital post-mortems.
• Provide mortuary and bereavement cover across sites within the health board.
• Maintain dignity and respect for the deceased and bereaved at all times.
• Communicate effectively with external agencies (Coroner, Police, Funeral Directors).
• Demonstrate compassionate care and effective handling of emotional situations.
