Job summary

Pulse in the East Midlands is seeking an experienced Anatomical Pathology Technologist for a locum position. You will support post-mortem examinations, liaise with bereaved families and external agencies, and contribute to a cross-site mortuary service.

The role requires a Level 4 AP Tech qualification, a Diploma/Certificate, and experience across routine and high-risk post-mortem cases. You will work 37.5 hours per week, Mon-Fri, with on-call duties and an 11-month duration.

Qualifications

• Essential: Level 4 Anatomical Pathology Technologist qualification, Certificate, Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology
• Membership of Anatomical Pathologists' Association or equivalent
• Experience in routine and high-risk post-mortem examinations
• Ability to prepare, eviscerate and reconstruct the deceased to a high professional and cosmetic standard

Responsibilities

• Participate in routine and high-risk post-mortem examinations within a busy mortuary environment.
• Prepare and eviscerate deceased individuals for examination by Consultant Histopathologists.
• Reconstruct the deceased to a high cosmetic standard for release to families and funeral directors.
• Organise, coordinate and facilitate viewings and identifications.
• Liaise with bereaved families, Coroner's representatives, funeral directors, police and other agencies.
• Receive, document, store and discharge deceased individuals entering and leaving the mortuary.
• Contribute to a 24-hour mortuary service via on-call rota and incident response plans.
• Support cross-site working and maintain health, safety, governance and dignity standards.
