Job summary

Burns Sheehan Limited is recruiting an Analytics Engineer on an outside IR35 contract in London with hybrid working. You will take over regulatory, tax and card scheme reporting and drive automation across the data team.

You will build dbt, SQL and Airflow pipelines, replacing manual steps, and ensure documentation, alerting, and handover readiness. Close collaboration with Legal, Tax and Finance is essential.

Qualifications

• Hands-on analytics engineering experience with dbt, SQL, Python.
• Experience handling regulatory or financial data with audit timelines.
• Willing to do manual work while building automated solutions.

Analytics Engineer | Outside IR35 Contract | London | Hybrid

Our client, a fast-growing Fintech, needs a hands-on Analytics Engineer to take over its regulatory, tax and card scheme reporting while helping the data team automate it.

The job

For now, a lot of this reporting is manual or semi-manual. You'll run it, keep every deadline met across several jurisdictions, and make sure the numbers pass. At the same time, you'll work with to replace those manual steps with proper dbt, SQL and Airflow pipelines. By the end, the whole reporting suite should be documented, alerting is in place, and it's ready to hand over.

What you'll do

• Run and validate existing reports (card scheme, tax and regulatory) and make sure they're archived and delivered on time
• Fix data issues by hand where needed to get reports through, then build upstream validations so they don't recur
• Replace Python scripts, Looker exports and connected sheets with production-grade pipelines
• Be the go-to data partner for Legal, Tax and Finance, including supporting regulator queries
• Write runbooks, document operating patterns and set alerting standards for handover

What we're looking for

• Strong analytics engineering skills: dbt, SQL, Python, Airflow and Git
• Experience with sensitive regulatory, tax or financial data, and a good feel for audit timelines
• Happy to roll your sleeves up and do the manual work while you build the automated fix
