Job summary

British Gypsum, part of Saint-Gobain, is seeking a Scientist in Loughborough to join the Analytical Team within R&D. You will perform analytical testing on gypsum-based materials and support product development and technical projects on a global scale.

You’ll operate XRF, XRD, GC-MS, HPLC, TGA and DSC, interpret data, and communicate findings to stakeholders. A collaborative, detail-focused scientist with a passion for innovation will thrive here.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science or related discipline.
• Experience with analytical lab instrumentation such as XRF/XRD or GC-MS/HPLC/TGA/DSC.
• Strong attention to detail and methodical lab work.
• Ability to analyse and interpret scientific data.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Conduct analytical testing on gypsum board and related material samples.
• Operate analytical instrumentation (XRF, XRD, GC-MS, HPLC, TGA, DSC).
• Perform routine testing following established methods and standards.
• Prepare samples, conduct experiments and generate high-quality data.
• Interpret results and produce clear technical reports.
• Communicate findings to internal customers with clear recommendations.
• Support R&D and innovation projects across Saint-Gobain Group.
• Collaborate with laboratories and teams across the global business.
