Job description

You could be analysing which products need to be reduced in price to minimise waste every day, or how to automatically supply enough extra burgers and lettuces for barbecues over a hot weekend. You could be analysing the product range in our stores based on individual store performance, business strategy, customer demographics and market trends. You may be giving presentations on the newest innovation in analytics or engaging with suppliers to drive benefits throughout the supply chain!

The team's initiatives and ideas are based in data-driven insight, collaboration with Tesco colleagues and our partnership with suppliers. This vacancy is used to recruit for Analyst roles across Supply Chain, including our Development & Change team, Space, Range and Merchandising teams, and more.

• Developing a deep understanding of how the retail industry, our end to end supply chain, and store operations work and why.
• Using a combination of technical skills and business understanding to turn data into insight, root causing issues, defining problems, crafting creative solutions and implementing them in the business.
• Reporting data accurately and turning it into useful information which has context and supporting narrative.
• Leading your own projects; building engagement, influencing relevant partners and delivering real change.
• Articulating the opportunity, insight, or project clearly, flexing your style to engage with conviction.
• Measuring the benefits & costs associated with your work and demonstrating resilience and a dedication to innovation.

• Good eye for business and the strive to make changes to the way the company operates.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Capacity to simplify sophisticated issues and implement practical solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage and collaborate with other teams to deliver to objectives.
• Capability to innovate new and pragmatic solutions using your own ideas.
• Programming skills (primarily SQL but also python) however, a large proportion of our analysts join with limited SQL knowledge so the ability to learn technical skills quickly is enough.
