Job summary

ALS Laboratories (UK) Ltd in Coventry is hiring a Laboratory Analyst Grade 1 in Organics. You will work in a busy team, following procedures and delivering reliable results. This is an excellent entry point into environmental science with a 37-hour week and a full-time permanent contract.

Role involves sample testing, data recording, and adherence to health and safety standards, with opportunities for professional development and progression within the Organics department.

Qualifications

  • 5 GCSEs at Grade C (4) include Science, Maths and English and an A level or equivalent in scientific subject.
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Understand customer requirements.
  • Ensure samples are processed following all procedures and legislation.
  • Deliver on key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Record and report analytical data accurately.

Analyst - Grade 1 - Organics ALS Laboratories is seeking a Laboratory Analyst Grade 1 to join the Organics department at our Coventry laboratory. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a busy and supportive team, playing a key role in the testing of samples to ensure accurate, reliable results are delivered in line with company procedures and performance targets. We are looking for someone with a careful, methodical approach, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work proactively as part of a fast-paced laboratory environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for following established procedures, carrying out sample testing effectively and accurately, and recording results to a high standard. This role is an excellent entry point for anyone looking to start a career in Environmental Science, particularly within the field of organic analysis. Role Hours Per Week: 37 Days Per Week: Monday to Friday (08:00 - 16:00 ) Contract: Full Time and Permanent Annual Salary: £25,878 Hiring Manager: Julie Whitmore Closing Date: Tuesday 1st September 2026

Day to Day Responsibilities
  • Understand customer requirements.
  • Ensure samples are completed efficiently and effectively following all process, procedures, and legislation.
  • Deliver on key performance indicators.
  • Report and understand analytical data.
  • Participate in the Taste and Odour panel on a rotational basis following screening.
  • Assist team members to achieve work objectives.
  • Proactively ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures
Qualifications
  • 5 GCSEs at Grade C (equivalent to new Grade 4) or above to include Science, Maths and English and an A level or equivalent in scientific subject.
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures, with a willingness to learn.
  • Client focused approach with a solution oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to plan and organise own work area.
