Job summary

Medacs Healthcare is recruiting locum Anaesthetic Practitioners with UK anaesthetic experience to support Southend University Hospital. The role offers weekday or full-time flexibility across several surgical specialties, with a collaborative multi-skilled anaesthetic team.

You will assist in anaesthetic preparation and delivery, manage equipment and drugs, monitor patients, and respond quickly to changes, ensuring high-quality care.

Qualifications

• HCPC or NMC registration (RGN/ODP) is required.
• Minimum 6 months UK Operating Theatre experience.
• Mentoring or teaching qualification and ILS/Paediatric ILS are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and delivery of anaesthetic procedures for surgery.
• Prepare and manage anaesthetic equipment, drugs and airway devices.
• Monitor patients throughout the anaesthetic process and respond to changes.
• Support team to ensure safe, high-quality care across multiple specialties.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll be part of a multi-skilled anaesthetic team delivering safe, high-quality care across a range of surgical specialties, including:

• Head     Neck
• Obstetrics     Gynaecology
• General Surgery
• Urology
• Vascular

You'll be:

• responsible for assisting in the preparation and delivery of anaesthetic procedures for patients undergoing surgery
• supporting the team to prepare a wide range of specialist equipment and drugs, including anaesthetic machines, intravenous equipment and devices that safely secure the patient's airway during anesthesia
• responsible for monitoring patients throughout the anaesthetic process
• responding quickly to any changes or complications that may arise

What You'll Need

• HCPC or NMC Registration (RGN/ODP)
• Minimum of 6 months UK based Operating Theatre experience
• Right to work in the UK (No visa sponsorship is available for this role)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Immediate Life Support (ILS) / Paediatric ILS
• Mentoring or teaching qualification
