Job summary

Surrey County Council is recruiting an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) for its frontline AMHP team, covering the West Team and the west of Surrey. The role focuses on statutory assessments under the Mental Health Act and Care Act, with a weekly shift lead for screening referrals and allocations.

The post is part-time (18 hours per week), office-based with flexible working between home and community bases.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification in social work.
• Post-qualifying experience in mental health settings.

Responsibilities

• Undertake statutory assessments under the Mental Health Act and Care Act.
• Carry out the Local Authority's statutory duties under the Mental Health Act.
• Take on the weekly shift lead role, screening referrals and allocating them.
• Take assessments allocated daily at 09:00 or booked in advance.
• Work with partners in community health, criminal justice and acute services.
• Contribute to staff development through supervision and training.
• Participate in case discussions, team meetings and legal update training.
