Job summary

Wokingham Borough Council is seeking an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) Team Manager to lead our AMHP service on a full-time, permanent basis. You will shape strategy, oversee day-to-day operations, and drive high professional standards across the team, in collaboration with partners and stakeholders.

The role offers hybrid working with a base at Resource House, and requires a professional AMHP qualification with leadership experience.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification as a social worker, registered mental health or learning disability nurse, or occupational therapist
• Current AMHP qualification and relevant professional registration
• Experience of working as an AMHP
• Experience of managing staff, providing supervision, setting clear expectations and supporting good performance
• Experience of operational management within mental health or adult social care
• Full Driving License and Daily Access to a Car

Responsibilities

• Lead the AMHP service, ensuring Mental Health Act work is safe, lawful and meets professional standards
• Manage day-to-day service, including allocating work, resources and performance
• Lead and support AMHPs through supervision, reflective practice and development
• Involve carers and people in the service development and recruitment processes
• Build strong relationships with partners and represent the AMHP service at meetings
• Drive continuous improvement using feedback and performance information
