Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an instructor to deliver both classroom-based and outdoor education for secondary-aged pupils. The role blends structured teaching with bushcraft, sports, and team-building activities across the Pendle area.

Qualified (QTS/QTLS) or experienced instructors are welcome; military background is valued. You will foster resilience and supportive relationships in a mixed SEMH cohort, with trainees commuting from nearby towns.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teachers (QTS/QTLS) or Unqualified Instructors with substantial trades, sports coaching, or instructional experience.
• A military or armed forces background is highly valued, providing structure, leadership, and calm-under-pressure mindset.
• Outdoor enthusiast, capable of leading groups outside in all seasons.
• Resilience & composure, maintaining clear boundaries while building empathetic rapport with disengaged youth.
• Commute from Barnoldswick (BB18), Earby (BB18), Colne (BB8), or Nelson (BB9) or nearby areas.

Responsibilities

• Dual Environment Delivery: Lead structured learning sessions inside the classroom and seamlessly transition into outdoor education, bushcraft, sports, or team‑building exercises around the Pendle area.
• Holistic Mentoring: Act as a strong, positive role model, helping vulnerable young people build resilience, accountability, and essential life skills.
• Behaviour Management: Utilise a calm demeanour to de‑escalate challenging situations and provide a stable environment for pupils with diverse social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
• Curriculum Adaptation: Plan and deliver practical, engaging lessons tailored to the individual learning levels of your students.

Salary: Up to £31,850 per annum.

Job Type: Full-time, Temporary to Permanent.

Start Date: September 2026.

Qualifications: Qualified (QTS/QTLS) or Unqualified (Full training provided).

Setting: Alternative Provision (AP).

Our teacher or instructor will blend structured classroom teaching with active outdoor education, working with small groups of secondary‑aged pupils who require a personalized, nurturing approach to education.
