Job summary

Ada, the National College for Digital Skills, seeks a capable ALS Co-ordinator to lead and enhance provision for learners with additional needs during a 1-year period. You will provide strategic leadership and operational management to the ALS team, ensuring SEND support is implemented across the Sixth Form and Apprenticeship programs.

You will work with key leaders to articulate the college's vision, support adult learners, manage exam access arrangements, EHCP reviews, and training strategies

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a leadership or co-ordination role within a SEND or ALS context.
• Be educated to Level 3 standard.
• In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation and best practices.
• Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing learners with additional needs in a further education setting.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and inspire a team.
• Desirable: QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Desirable: FE college experience.
• Desirable: Knowledge of the digital skills sector.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: develop and implement an ALS strategy aligned with the college's vision and values.
• Oversee allocation and utilisation of resources, including High Needs and EHCP Funding.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of ALS interventions and drive continuous improvement.
• Foster inclusivity and support for learners with additional needs.
• Collaborate with SLT to advocate SEND provision and secure resources.
• Operational Management: supervise 4 Learning Support Assistants and oversee daily ALS operations.
• Coordinate caseloads and workload distribution; create support plans.
• Develop systems for identifying, assessing, and supporting learners with additional needs.
• Ensure compliance with SEND legislation and policies.
• Collaboration and Partnership: work with key stakeholders to ensure cohesive SEND provision.
• Build relationships with external agencies, local authorities, health professionals, and specialist services.
• Engage with parents/carers and provide regular communication.
• Staff Development: lead professional development for the ALS team and foster continuous learning.
• Promote a culture of development within the team.
